The Project: Kitchen Remodel

It was time for the kitchen of this 1930's "rustic" home to catch up to the contemporary life of a young family.

Like many older homes the kitchen was disconnected from the rest of the home. The small openings and limited visibility made verbal communication between rooms almost impossible. The circulation was poor and the plan was chopped up which made entertaining very difficult to organize and prepare for. They needed usability and access and a sense of connectedness with the rest of the home.

The new kitchen now takes full advantage of its location in the home. Walls were opened up where ever possible allowing clean site lines into adjacent rooms. The aesthetic of the new cabinets and hardware make homage to the rustic nature of the home's original character.
